194. not to say

基本表現と解説

• At the best of times it was an arduous not to say dangerous trip. 「いちばんいい時期においてさえ、それは危険というほどではなくても、えらく骨の折れる旅行だった」

not to say は「……とまでは言わないが」とか、場合に依っては「ほとんど……といってもよい」といった意味になる。
