5. the + 形容詞

基本表現と解説

• the dead 「死せる人々」
• the beautiful 「美」

「the + 形容詞」は「人々」をあらわすこともあれば、抽象概念をあらわすこともある。

例文1

We know how prone the strong are to suspect the weakness of the weak — as the weak are to be disgusted by the strength of the strong.
