基本表現と解説
- He kings it well. 「彼はじつに国王らしく振る舞っている」
- He lords it over the others. 「彼はひとり威張っている」
- He fought it out to the last. 「彼は最後まで戦った」
- We boated it. 「ボートで行った」
- You will have to rough it. 「きみは難儀しなければならない」
- He carries it with a high hand. 「彼は高圧的にふるまう」
同族目的語を it で置き換えたケース。最初の例で言えば He kings the king. が He kings it. になったのである。
