解説

(a) Published, as it was, at such a time, his work attracted much attention.
(b) Published at such a time, his work attracted much attention.

II
(a) Coming out, as it did, at such a time, his work attracted much attention.
(b) Coming out at such a time, his work attracted much attention.

(a) と (b) とは意味に於て異なる所なし、唯 (a) の前の Verb を反復する爲に用ひたる as it was (published), as it did (=came out) なる Adverbial Clause を用ひ文意を強めたるに過ぎず。

  As it did |は「彼が如く」又は「實際」など譯す可し。

〔註一〕I の Published の如く Past Participle を用ひたる場合は(,)の有無に依りて次の如き差を生ず。
(1) Published, as it was, ......
    實際(又は、あの通り)出版されたから。
(2) Published as it was, ......

 出版されたから。

 出版されたけれども。

 即ち (1) に在りては as(=如く)は比較を示し、(2) に在りては(前後の關係に依り)as(=「故に」「とも」)は理由又は讓歩を示すことあり。

〔註二〕II の Coming (out) の如く Present Participle を用ひたる場合には I の如き區別なきが故に(,)を附する事あり、附せざる事あり、何れにても可なり。
