解説
To be beside oneself.
=To lose one's self-command.
=To be out of one's wits or senses.
措を失ふ。
度を失ふ。
常を失ふ。
我を忘る。
夢中になる。
之に其原因を示す Adverbial Phrase が加はりて上に示すが如く
He was beside himself with joy, grief, anger, etc.
の如き文となる。
To be beside oneself. = 其身の外に在り、我を忘る。
邦語「(恐ろしさに)魂身に添はず」などの句を思ひ合す可し。
