52. beside oneself with

基本表現と解説

• He was beside himself. 「彼は我を忘れた」
• He was beside himself with joy / grief / anger / terror. 「彼は喜び・悲しみ・怒り・恐怖のあまり度を失った」

beside oneself は「我を忘れる」「取り乱す」「平静な自分でなくなる」という意味。
