- I took a map with me in case it might be useful. 「役立つかもしれないと思って地図を持っていった」
- I took a map with me in case I should lose my way. 「道に迷わないように地図を持っていった」
in case は「ある場合に備えて」という意味。最初の例文は supposing that 「……と思って」に置き換えられ、あとの例文は fearing that 「……だと困るから」に置き換えられる。
