189. come what may

基本表現と解説

• "Epimetheus," exclaimed Pandora, "come what may, I am resolved to open the box!" 「エピメテウス」とパンドラは叫んだ。「なにがあろうとわたしはこの箱を開けます」

come what may あるいは come what will あるいは let come what may は whatever may come or happen 「なにが起ころうとも」の意。come の代わりに betide や happen が用いられることもある。come weal or woe 「福が来ようが禍が来ようが」などと言うこともある。
